Your Election 2008 reactions, experiences and thoughts on what's next?
The National Youth Advocacy is now accepting submissions of your stories, your poetry, your videos, your experiences, and your reactions about the great election of 2008 and where you think we should go from here. After submitting your brilliant work, we will post your writings on our blog, put videos on our YouTube, and create a larger project out of it, to make sure that the perspectives and stories we receive get heard!
Last night one of the longest election cycles in our nation's history came to an end. Today is indeed a new day for our country, but that does not mean that our job as citizens is finished until the next election. President-elect Obama's victory marks a significant moment in the social justice movement. As Obama reminded us last night, we must all participate in the changes we'd like to see made here in the USA.
Statement on the legalization of same-sex marriage in Connecticut
The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 today to overturn a ban on same-sex marriage, saying that the law was unconstitutional. Connecticut will become the third state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage, following Massachusetts and California. NYAC celebrates this landmark achievement for the LGBTQ movement.

PFLAG, GLSEN and The Trevor Project join NYAC to honor the legacy of iconic hate-crime victim Matthew Shepard, who was killed in October 1998 in Laramie, Wyoming. He was 21 years old. To view the series click here.
NYAC announces "Youth & HIV" professional development webinar series
A 4-part seminar series, aimed at professionals who work with youth in the field of HIV, is set to begin Oct. 23.
