2008: What I Learned

Expect the Unexpected

Not only did we not expect to start 2008 in chains and leather in a Central Phoenix sex dungeon; ending it looking dapper in our tuxedos amongst friends at the Clarendon didn’t seem likely either. Oh yeah, did I forget the unexpected drama in the economy?

Painting White House Pink Now Possible

Now that the Obama’s have introduced black and gray to the White House color palette, a pink house no longer seems out of reach. Imagine the gentrification possibilities in DC!

Make Up Now Before Its Too Late

Twice in my lifetime I’ve unexpectedly lost close friends. My first gay friend was Steve Rivard. He was like my gay big brother. Without him in my life, I would have never met my partner Richard. He was murdered back in the 80’s. We were having a little argument that month and weren’t talking. More recently I played the big brother role to our friend and former boss Brian Fay. He struggled with his sexuality among other things. He died in 2008. The month he committed suicide I was upset with him. And for what? I can’t even recall. How I wish now that I could have been there for both of them. I have so many questions for both of them now, why did I never ask them?

What a find! I’ve been working on moving my gay bar history page into the blog format and happened upon this image while researching the subject.

We have decided to transform AZGays from a directory of links to a blog that contains links. Please be patient while we work through the transition.

Thanks,
